August 22, 2010 For humans, and Israel in particular, blessing God is a moral act. It is something we learn to do, and by doing it we are formed or reformed according to our true nature. Blessing is essentially the transformative experience of knowing and honoring God as the Giver; it means valuing the steady flow that sustains the world even above the gift of life that each of us receives and is in time constrained to relinquish. -Ellen Davis PAYING ATTENTION Prelude Call to Worship Leader: Let the light fall warm and red on the rock, let the birds sing their evening song and let God's people say Amen.
