Second Sunday after Easter: Mother's DayMay 8, 2011
I am because we are;
we are because I am.
Swahili proverb

Prelude
Words of welcome

Call to worship Adapted from Mary Oliver's ``Her Grave, Again, Part 7''
Leader:          Now we are awake
All :              And now we are come together
Men:
And now we are thanking God
Leader:
This is easy, for God is everywhere
Women:
She is in the water and the air
Men:
She is in the very walls
All :               She is around us and in us,
Leader:
She is the floor on which we kneel
Women:
We make our songs for her, as sweet as we can
Men:
    For her goodness
Leader:          And, lo, she steps into the song and out of it, having blessed it, having recognized our intention
Women:   Having awakened us
Men:
    Who thought we were awake
Leader:
Having married us to the air and the water
Women:
  Having lifted us in intensity
Men:
Having lowered us in beautiful amiability
Leader:          Having given us each other; the weeds, dogs, cities, boats, dreams
All:              That are the world
